Toronto, Canada: June 30, 2004
Ashton Golf is pleased to announce three new additions to the Ashton
Long Drive Team
Brett Cleverdon of Markham Ontario
Brett is a 5 time Re/Max World Long Drive finalist. He is also a full
time long drive professional performing over 30 long drive exhibits and
demonstrations throughout Canada and the U.S each year.
" I tested out the various long drive equipment and I am very happy with
the X-1 " . Says Brett. " I feel I am hitting the best I have ever hit
in my life. Ashton has already given me their full support and they are
a great company to be involved with. They really take care of their
athletes. "
Mike Wiebe of Toronto, Ontario
Mike is very well respected in long drive circles. He is a 3 time Re/Max
World long Drive finalist. Highlights include making it to the " final
eight " and finishing in 7th place at the 2000 Re/Max World Long Drive
Finals. The next year he hit the longest ball of the 2001 Re/Max Finals.
Mike is also a full time long drive professional and an accomplished
actor, having appeared many times in film and on television.
"I took a couple of years off from the sport. " Says Mike. "Up until now
I was only hitting OEM product. Brett called me up and said you have to
try the Ashton X-1. I got in touch with the guys at Ashton. They
promptly put me on their launch monitor and I immediately gained 15-20
yards by switching to the X-1. I cannot wait to see how I do in a
tournament and I have not been this excited about long drive in years."
Mike and Brett join Talaga Lesa, Rock Hicks, Jeff Gavin, Paul MacKay,
Steve Nickerson and Sean Allen as Open Division team members.
Mandy De Fabrizio of Milton, Ontario
Mandy is a relative newcomer to the sport of long drive although she did
qualify for the 2003 Re/Max World Long Drive Finals.
"Mandy is an up and coming talent ", says Ashton Golf President Cliff
Barron." I first saw her compete at a local last year and watched her
carry the ball over 275 yards with her playing driver. We just recently
put her on our launch monitor and her ball speed and swing speeds are
staggering. I am predicting a very strong showing for Mandy in 2004 and
I have the feeling she is really going to give some of the top Lady
longdrivers a good run for their money."
